• Isthmic spondylolisthesis: This has to do with stress fractures that make the vertebrae move out of their proper position.
• Degenerative disc disease: This occurs when a disc is worn down, often due to an accident or injury. If the initial trauma did not result in a lot of pain, it might have been ignored, leading to back pain years later.
• Facet joint osteoarthritis: Cartilage is located in the back of the spine and can degenerate due to arthritis or injury. This leads to the joints rubbing together and causing pain.
• Lumbar disc herniation: A sponge-like disc is located between the vertebrae. When a disc becomes herniated, the disc has moved out of place and has caused the vertebrae to grind together.
