Meniere’s disease is debilitating for the 615,000 people in the USA who are suffering from it. Approximately 45,500 new cases are diagnosed every year. What are the symptoms of Meniere’s?
The cause for Meniere’s has not been found. However, many theories abound. Such things as autoimmune problems, viruses, circulation issues, inherited genes, allergies, and even migraine headaches can be a possible reason for the development of Meniere’s disease.
Because the reason for Meniere’s is so hard to find, treatment is equally as frustrating. Basically, there are two ways to treat this condition. One way is to treat the symptoms as they appear during an episode. The other way is to attempt to stop future attacks. Some things a medical doctor may recommend are:
Meniere’s is a disorder of the inner ear. The ear contains small amounts of liquid that sends messages to and from the brain about how the body is balanced. If someone is suffering from Meniere’s disease, for some reason, an abnormally large amount of fluid is in the ear. This distorts signals to the brain and causes such symptoms as mentioned above. So, the questions become: Why does this fluid accumulate, and what can be done about it?
Most patients want a natural, effective solution that gets to the bottom of the problem, hopefully doing away with symptoms.
