An Underlying Cause of Sinus Problems

Sinus Problems, Sinus, Sinus Relief, Chronic FatigueSinus problems are not at all easy to deal with. They affect many people. One thing these people have in common is that they are regularly feeling congested or are experiencing sinus infections that may last for long periods of time, even years. The reason for this is that the sinuses are not draining properly when a person has a cold, the flu, or allergies. Other symptoms that go along with this are pain and extreme tiredness.

Medical doctors try to help their patients by prescribing decongestants, antihistamines, and nasal steroids. This costs $5.8 billion a year! Another option available is sinus surgery. About 500,000 people have chosen this to treat their sinuses in the USA. This can lead to complications if a person is not diagnosed correctly. Sometimes what appears to be a sinus problem is actually a misdiagnosed headache syndrome. This is true in as much as 90% of cases.

A Link to Chronic Fatigue?

A study performed at the Georgetown Medical Center revealed that there is a possible connection between unexplained body pain, fatigue, and sinus problems. This is something that had not previously been discovered. In this study, 297 patients were involved. Of them, 22% had chronic fatigue, 11% had chronic pain, and 9% had both chronic fatigue and pain. The discovery made was that one underlying problem among them was chronic sinus problems.

What Can Help Sinus Problems?

While this is very interesting information, a person may be wondering what can be done. One simple solution is to seek the care of an upper cervical chiropractor. We specialize in making sure the vertebrae of the neck are in proper alignment. If they are not, undue pressure may be being placed on the brainstem. This can cause all kinds of problems in the body. The sinuses may not be draining properly due to such a misalignment. Once corrected, our patients have reported a vast improvement in symptoms of sinus problems, chronic fatigue, and chronic pain.
