Tinnitus is the term used when you hear some type of noise – ringing, roaring, hissing, or clicking – but there is no outside source causing it. Tinnitus is not a disease but rather an underlying condition. One in every five people suffers from tinnitus. It can lead to concentration problems and even depression. The chance for you to develop tinnitus increases with age. Why does this condition happen?
The ear is made up of three parts:
When a sound enters the ear, waves travel to the middle ear and then the inner ear where they are transformed into messages carried by nerves. The brain interprets these messages as sound. Therefore, if the brain is reading sound when there is none, it has to do with a problem within the inner ear. What may be a reason for this?
Tinnitus itself and some of the above conditions can be linked back to a misalignment in the bones of the upper cervical spine – especially the C1 and C2 vertebrae. A misalignment here can cause stress on the brainstem, making it send improper signals to the brain. If the brainstem sends a signal to the brain that there is noise coming into the ear, tinnitus can be the end result. In order to correct this problem, the misalignment must be corrected.
Here at Advanced Spinal Care, we use a method that is both gentle and precise to realign these bones. Our technique has helped many of our tinnitus patients find relief from this annoying problem.
